Pacing-induced changes in stroke volume in the evaluation of myocardial function.
نویسنده
چکیده
For characterization of left ventricular function using changes in heart rate, we performed right atrial pacing in 16 patients during right and left heart catheterizations. Hemodynamic data was obtained before pacing (B), during pacing (D), and immediately after (A) the sudden interruption of pacing, for assessment of the consequences of rapid changes in stroke volume. In 10 patients with normal left ventricular function,

O12: The Heart and the Brain: Stroke Induced Heart Damage
Cardiac diseases are common post-stroke and are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. One possible mechanism of acute cardiac injury is the neurogenic myocardial damage, where the cerebral injury is disturbing the normal sympathetic and parasympathetic neuronal outflow to the heart leading to cardiac damage including myocardial infarctions. The exact mechanism is not completely und...
متن کاملEvaluation of myocardial perfusion and function after kidney transplantation by Gated SPECT myocardial perfusion scintigraphy
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of successful kidney transplantation (KT) on myocardial perfusion and left ventricular function by both qualitative (visual) interpretation and semiquantitative parameters, using myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with gated-single photon emission computed tomography (gated-SPECT) in patients suffering from end-stage renal disease. ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics
Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria. Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...
متن کاملEffect of exercise training and L-arginine supplementation on oxidative stress and left ventricular function in rats with myocardial infarction
Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of exercise training and L-arginine supplementation on oxidative stress and systolic ventricular function in rats with myocardial infarction (MI). Methods: Four weeks after the surgically-induced MI, 40 male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to the following 4 groups (n=10): MI-sedentary control (Sed) MI-exercise (Ex) MI-...
متن کاملSystolic left ventricular function is preserved during therapeutic hypothermia, also during increases in heart rate with impaired diastolic filling
BACKGROUND Systolic left ventricular function during therapeutic hypothermia is found both to improve and to decline. We hypothesized that this discrepancy would depend on the heart rate and the variables used to assess systolic function. METHODS In 16 pigs, cardiac performance was assessed by measurements of invasive pressures and thermodilution cardiac output and with 2D strain echocardiogr...
